At SmartPractice, we believe work should have a purpose beyond the daily grind.
Our Coordinator, Barb Kerley, agrees. Every year for the past five years, Barb has served Feed My Starving Children with her department. Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger worldwide. On June 6th, Barb and her colleagues put together critical food packages at the organization’s packing center in Mesa, Arizona. The packages assembled that day will feed 116 children in developing countries for an entire year.
Barb worked with purpose at Feed My Starving Children and felt inspired to “become a better person.”
“It’s easy to take food for granted. While many people in the U.S. might wonder where to get a good burger for dinner, there are millions of children around the world who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Volunteering for Feed My Starving Children helped me feel even more grateful for what I have.
I was amazed to discover that the food and vitamin packages I helped to pack in one day of volunteering could feed kids in need for a whole year! It goes to show you that together, every one of us can make a difference!”
Reflecting on her 14 years working for SmartPractice, Barb says, “I love what I do here, but what I love even more is working for a company that’s about more than their bottom line. SmartPractice genuinely cares about making a difference.”
SmartPractice’s SmartHearts program offers amazing employees like Barb paid opportunities to volunteer throughout the year. Check out our other employee spotlight stories to learn more about how we’re giving back.
