Want to see a steady stream of patch testing patients coming into your practice? Increase the number of patch tests you perform in your clinic by reaching out to these types of patients:

  1. Patients with facial rash for more than 3 months or who have not responded to other reasonable therapies
  2. Patients with hand dermatitis/hand eczema for more than 3 months or who have not responded to other reasonable therapies
  3. Adult and pediatric patients with known eczema or atopic dermatitis with bad disease control, or those who report any unusual symptoms like worsening with topical products or topical steroids  
  4. Patients with genital pruritus for more than 3 months or who have not responded to other reasonable therapies
  5. Patients with burning mouth syndrome for more than 3 months or who have not responded to other reasonable therapies
  6. Any patient with an itchy rash without improvement for more than 3 months deserves a patch test
  7. Any patient with chronic pruritus/itching who has a negative initial work up
  8. Patients who struggle with chronic intermittent reactions to cosmetics or other personal care products
  9. Patients who are concerned about rash from Latex allergy
  10. Patch testing can greatly benefit patients with a history of metal intolerance who need implanted medical devices
