“If we cannot practice what we model and preach internally, we are hypocrites.” Dr. Curt Hamann, President and CEO of SmartPractice recently said in recognition of SmartPractice once again being recognized as one of Phoenix Valley’s Healthiest Employers. However this year we received more than just recognition, as we took home the #1 Healthiest Employers award for a midsize company.
We started our wellness program, Shape (SmartPractice Health and Awareness Program for Employees), in 1992 with an annual on-site physical and a six-month coaching follow-up. With an emphasis on preventive health, we felt it was important for employees to “know their numbers.” We partnered with our employees, our health care providers, wellness partner and community resources to support our employees’ health goals. The wellness program has evolved over time, but continues to encourage and develop habits for healthy preventive medicine.
“We are way below the national averages of what we have to spend per employee each year. I think that’s a very powerful indicator of progress,” said Hamann
